Message from Phil Borchmann

Thank you for joining us at the eighth annual Face Awards as we celebrate the accomplishments of companies and individuals who reflect and celebrate positive values and ethnic and racial diversity, and in turn serve as inspiration for others.

Southwest Florida is a melting pot of cultures, including Hispanic, African, Asian, Native American, European and many others. Those who hail from those backgrounds contribute greatly to our community, whether it’s in the arts, education, charity, medicine or business. And because this diversity is not always acknowledged sufficiently, D’Latinos and Gulfshore Business magazines teamed up in 2011 to present the inaugural Face Awards.

This year, we received numerous excellent nominations, and the judges had to make made some difficult decisions before selecting our winners.

The submissions were reviewed by Marisa Cleveland, research and development executive director for The Seymour Agency; Paula DiGrigoli, executive director, NCH Safe & Healthy Children’s Coalition of Collier County; Altony Lee, director of Major Gifts, University Advancement, Florida Gulf Coast University; and Yemisi Oloruntolo-Coates, system director of Diversity and Patient Rights at Lee Health. We are truly grateful to those individuals their hard work and guidance.

And, more importantly, congratulations to our 2018 Face Awards honorees. We’re confident that you will find their stories as inspiring as we did.
